I AM XI's late afternoon edition...Let's get to it!

It's official! Justice Sotomayor was confirmed by the Senate this afternoon shortly after the scheduled 3pm ET vote. She is the 1st Hispanic and only the 3rd woman to sit on the Supreme Court. What an honor...Congratulations, Justice Sotomayor!

I AM XI edition...Let's go!

Ok, so let me get this straight: (*counting on my fingers*) There have been shooting sprees in schools, at a church, an Amish Village, a mall, a Holocaust museum, and NOW a shooting spree at a fitness club! I mean, really, we can’t go anywhere these days without fear we’ll lose our lives because of the actions of some crazy person! (Be thankful that you live to see each day…)

And the gunman documented and plotted the attack in an online diary, stating he was lonely and lacked love in his life. *Blank blinking stare* I’m not even going there…On second thought, I think I will! Just because dude is whack and couldn’t get the bizness from any of the ladies in the club, he decides to rage against them and take these women out?! He took the lives of someone’s daughter/wife/mother/relative & friend just because of some inadequacies and failures he had in his own life! Wow, OK… (SMDH)

Mother, who killed 7 and herself in a car crash last week in NY, had "high levels" of marijuana and alcohol equally about 10 drinks in her system when it was initially believed that she was just disoriented and didn’t “feel good.” Lady, for real?! You're blitzed with 4 children in the car?! (still SMDH)

X-factors, we have to be careful on these roads driving out here and buckle up, it's the law!
A distant cousin of mine was also involved in a terrible accident where two of her young children were killed. It is suspected that she may have fallen asleep at the wheel… People, please just pull over, rest and/or call for help.

Freed journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, arrived home this morning and reunited with their families.

If you watch WETV's hit reality 'Bridezillas' you know that there's something not quite right about the women featured on the show. I mean a little wedding jitters and lunacy is one thing, but some of them are just down right rude, violent and disgusting in their behavior towards their family and friends. Call it real or not but Racine from Bridezillas could be facing charges for parole violation based on her role on the show. And I can't help but laugh because I saw the episodes where she was featured and she was extremely mean and nasty to her fiance's mother.

Story here and check out the video below:

Macchaito's & Morning Papers: LATE LATE Edition

Tuesday, July 21, 2009
So today's my birthday....and it also happened to be one of THE most hectic days at work for me!

However, the show MUST go on...and because I am the self-proclaimed "QUEEN OF MULTI-TASKING" I know the news is late BUT I can't neglect my readers! So let's get to it folks!

When life gives you lemons make: Michael Steele. LOL! This guy is SUCH a colossal JOKE! *Pause Police*

Charges have now been dropped on Henry Louis Gates, Jr. I'm STILL in shock. This is the man who host African American Lives on PBS. The series overview for anyone who isn't familiar:

From PBS.com
Building on the widespread acclaim of African American Lives (2006) and Oprah's Roots (2007), AFRICAN AMERICAN LIVES 2 again journeys deep into ancestry of an all-new group of remarkable individuals, offering an in-depth look at the African-American experience and race relations throughout U.S. history. Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. returns as series host, guiding genealogical investigations down through the 20th century, Reconstruction, slavery and early U.S. history, and presenting cutting-edge genetic analysis that locates participants' ancestors in Africa, Europe and America. Joining Professor Gates in the new broadcast are poet Maya Angelou, author Bliss Broyard, actor Don Cheadle, actor Morgan Freeman, theologian Peter Gomes, publisher Linda Johnson Rice, athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee, radio personality Tom Joyner, comedian Chris Rock, music legend Tina Turner, and college administrator Kathleen Henderson, who was selected from more than 2,000 applicants to have her family history researched and DNA tested alongside the series' well-known guests.
If you haven't seen it you're missing out on a treat. At any event it appears that Mr. Gates will be back his normal life after this unfortunate and confusing situation.

Cathy Hughes is PISSED! Good and pissed...and she's upset for good reason. On her "Reality Radio" series she addresses the H.R. 848 Bill.

For anyone not familiar with HR 848 www.govtrack.us wrote this summary:
2/4/2009--Introduced.
Performance Rights Act - Amends federal copyright law to: (1) grant performers of sound recordings equal rights to compensation from terrestrial broadcasters; (2) establish a flat annual fee in lieu of payment of royalties for individual terrestrial broadcast stations with gross revenues of less than $1.25 million and for noncommercial, public broadcast stations; (3) grant an exemption from royalty payments for broadcasts of religious services and for incidental uses of musical sound recordings; and (4) grant terrestrial broadcast stations that make limited feature uses of sound recordings a per program license option.
Prohibits taking into account license fees payable for public performance via digital audio transmission of sound recordings in any proceeding to set or adjust the license fees for the purpose of reducing or adversely affecting such license fees. (Current law prohibits taking those fees into account in such a proceeding without referencing the purpose.)
Prohibits anything in this Act from adversely affecting the public performance rights or royalties payable to songwriters or copyright owners of musical works.
Prohibits taking into account the rates established by the Copyright Royalty Judges in any proceeding to reduce or adversely affect the license fees payable for public performances by terrestrial broadcast stations. Requires that such license fees for the public performance of musical works be independent of license fees paid for the public performance of sound recordings.
Revises provisions relating to proceeds from the licensing of transmissions.

TGIF ladies and gentlemen! So much news so little time to get it all in but I'll try!

As I watched this live yesterday on MSNBC the strangest thing happened to me. I wasn't angry or upset I was just really sad for Pat Buchanan and his sad view of the world. Kudos to Rachel for keeping her cool and not getting into a screaming match with him either. As I said last night on my Twitter page..."RM is such an intellectual class act."

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

My favorite part of this wondrous dialogue came after Maddow asked Buchanan why he thought that 108 of the 110 Supreme Court Justices had been white. He replied:
"White men were 100% of the people that wrote the Constitution, 100% of the people that signed the Declaration of Independence, 100% of the people who died at Gettysburg and Vicksburg, probably close to 100% of the people who died at Normandy. This has been a country built basically by white folks, who were 90% of the nation in 1960 when I was growing up and the other 10% were African-Americans who had been discriminated against. That's why.
I seriously don't know many people who don't watch the Daily Show...but if you're one of those people...you are really missing out on classic comedy and genuine news coverage. Jon Stewart went IN on Senator Lindsay Graham last night for his behavior during this weeks confirmation hearings.

Graham asked Sotomayor to answer for anonymous accusations by lawyers who had appeared before her, claiming she was temperamental and angry. In response, Stewart read anonymous comments about Lindsey Graham from the Internet that included people calling the senator the "ass of the year," a "sad sack of shit," and a "racist idiot douchebag." Jon also pointed out that Lindsey is featured on the site men who look like old lesbians. "Well, Senator Graham, someone apparently believes you look like an old lesbian. Do you??? And may I remind you you're under oath," he shouted in an odd accent.

Michael Jackson music leak...this the first of MANY I'm sure!

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

Speaking of MJ's music his album sales have topped 9 million since his death with an insane 5 albums listed in the Top 10.

Gay Porn star TWINS charged with using chainsaw and ax to break into stores. *Blank stare*

Keeping with the "sex trend" Jada Pinkett Smith talks limo sex and adding to your sexcapades. And I'm officially JEALOUS. I love her and Will!

Why do men always go for these chicks. Jon Gosselin's new GF is "surprise surprise" party animal trying to get famous. Truly shocking information here.

This Bruno movie I've heard is seriously disgusting I've heard and read on twitter from the people who've wasted their money to see it. Kevin Hart said he walked out of it. Barbara Walters called it pornography, April Rommett is STILL mad about the "donk" scenes...I mean it's terrible. So much so that the Ukraine has decided to ban it from being shown there.

Brandy settles lawsuit with survivor of fatal car crash. Good for her...sad situation though.

Debbie Rowe says "Hell No!" when discussing whether or not she wants custody of Jackson's kids.

The controversy of President Obama's birth certificate conspiracy was aided by none other than Fixed Noise (Fox News) Which I'm sure everyone reading this is SHOCKED to learn.

Megahan McCain has just gotten herself removed from her father's will with these statements.
"Joe the Plumber is a Dumb A$$...you can quotes me on that"
Hmmmm...a CBS news report is stating that legal weed would bring in 1.4 billion for California. So could we just get on with this revenue building and stop with all of this but it's a drug BS! Seriously!

Michael's Jackson death is being investigated by the LAPD as a homicide according to TMZ.

The NY Post is reporting that Debbie Rowe has decided to drop the custody battle and is reportedly being paid 4 million dollars for these efforts. *Blank stare*

However, People Magazine is reporting that Rowe's lawyers are denying that a settlement agreement has been reached. I'm so sick of this ugliness!

Unemployment numbers are not being accurately reported as they don't include people with part time jobs who are still in search of full-time jobs.

With soaring unemployment numbers and foreclosures at an all time high...many are wondering what the Obama administration is waiting for. I love President O but I'm wondering too...

Ok so this is all kinds true...and I'm glad someone decided to point it out. I've tripped over things and run into people while texting, emailing and TWEETING, lol!

LONG weekend for me. But it's Monday and while I'm late here's what's going on.
Judge Sonya Sotomayor's confirmation hearing is taking place as we speak. For live streaming and live blog updates visit The Huffington Post
President Obama has finally picked a Surgeon General for his adminsitration and it's Dr. Regina Benjamin from Alabama. Pow! "Dr. Regina Benjamin is known along Alabama's impoverished Gulf Coast as a country doctor who makes house calls and doesn't turn away patients who can't pay _ even as she's had to find the money to rebuild a clinic repeatedly destroyed by hurricanes and once even fire." She was also very instrumental in opening a non-profit medical clinic in the wake of Hurrican Katrina. Obama did good with this one.

I seriously worry about our national media. For the Today show to put Levi Johnston on as their guest really says alot about how pathetic things are becoming.

The British may be wrong for directing this onto children for sex education...but I'd like to launch the "Orgasm a Day" Campaign for "of age consenting adults in the USA asap." And I'm SO SERIOUS. Story here
Twitter has gone all out X-rated in the wee hours of the night it seems. First TilaTequila decided to go full on strip show and mastur-shut yo mouth via ustream the other night. Yuck! And last night Souljah Boy decided to join in on the I NEED ATTENTION antics and posed for some questionable pics on Twitter. *blank stare* Pics and link to his twitter page here.
Latoya Jackson is now claiming that she believes Michael Jackson was murdered. Cue full on dramatic foolery from this day forward.
Why does beef only seem to spark when careers need resurecting? Since I refuse to name nobody's on this site...I'll say another NOBODY is taking shots at the thrown. If you're curious the story can be read here.

Now that MJ has been laid to rest figuratively...Steve McNair's up next. Details on memorial services for fans and the public here.

Poll shows that 7 out of 10 Republicans would vote for Palin in 2012. Good with that!

Now WHAT now...Nashville investigators claim lack of "motive" slows ruling on McNair's girlfriend. I was going to rant about this but I just can't...

Uh-oh Microsoft's has more competition coming its way. Google Chrome OS introduced.

Rupert Murdoch and Google eye Twitter. I loathe this guy!

I heart Pandora. The better they do the better I feel.

Yesterday Michael Jackson took over ALL MEDIA OUTLETS. TV, Internet, Movie Theaters, everywhere all around the world MJ's memorial service coverage was watched. The man truly was a King!

The New York Post is such a smut machine...writing articles about two deceased people who are unable to defend themselves is truly disgraceful!

Monday, July 6, 2009
Good morning everyone! I know I know it's Monday already (I'm bitter too!) and the last three days are clearly a blur for some of us.

However, while we were out celebrating with family and friends, the 4th of July weekend carried on in an eventful manner.

So let's get to it!

President Obama's in Russia making nice with Medvedev...awww.

*Yawn* Anyone remember Sarah Palin...yeah well, she quit on Friday. SNORE!

Oooo yay...coffee may reverse Alzheimer's Disease. But next week I'm sure too much coffee will lead to it...so you be the judge.

The word "midget" to little people is what the "N" word is to African Americans. So they'd like it banned from TV asap. Can't say I blame them either...

Honestly Don Lemon you could babble about toilet paper and I'd sit there and listen. But thanks for standing up for the MJ coverage. Boo to CNN though!

Millions of people have signed up for Michael Jackson funeral tickets. LA is bracing itself for massive number of mourners tomorrow.

R.I.H. Steve McNair...it's well known by now that Steve McNair was fatally shot on Saturday July 4th by, what's being described as, an unknown assailant. However, reports point to the female found along with him, Sahel Kazemi, who was also fatally shot in an assumed murder suicide. Yes it is tragic and devastating and the details don't highlight the Steve McNair many knew and loved. However, at XI we try to remember people for who they were not what they did espcially in light of his untimely death, so if you haven't had a chance please check out the Tribute to McNair along this NY Times article that speaks to that sentiment. McNair Won't be Remembered for his Flaws. You will be missed "Air McNair"!

Mmmmm Meatless Monday's on Huffington Post.

I called this on Tuesday when the story first broke. I knew the Govenor's disappearance wasn't just some break he needed to take to clear his head. After admitting to having an affair and being kicked out by his wife his political future is now in jeopordy. Story here

Ok Mr. Ahmenyomama (President of Iran Ahmadinejad) might want to watch his mouth. Comparing President Obama to Bush will definitely get your teeth knocked out over in these parts. And possibly some of your people bombed.

Good morning everyone. Happy Friday!

Here's a look at some of the today's top news stories.

GOP racist jokes hurting party attract African-America and Hispanic voters. Sometimes headlines speak for themselves.

Former Secretary of State http://thinkprogress.org/2009/06/18/kissinger-obama-iran/ believes Obama is handling Iran situation well. I'm sure John McCain doesn't like that news.

NYT Op-Ed Columnist Paul Krugman thinks Obama is "passing the buck" on hard decisions. Ouch!

A Child Worker in Bangladesh tells his story. Sad reality for a lot of children in foreign countries.

Live-Blogging the uprising in Iran. This could get ugly really soon.

Real Housewives of New Jersey reality star Danielle is making headlines once again for her unsavory character.

Jon & Kate plus Eight have worn out their welcome with me. This show and it's premise died after last season and I hope it's finally over.

I seriously want the 2 minutes it took reading this story BACK!

Enjoy!

What the? Po little tink tink...

Ok now this is a little disturbing to say the least. Holocaust Museum shooter's son speaks out "I Wish Dad had Died Instead"

Obama on wrong side of the gay rights battle. Needs to find his way back.

International News:

*Ppppssst to Iran* Make sure to ignore any tips offered by the USA on conducting "recounts". This is bound to get ugly.

Musing over Macchiato's & AFTERNOON Papers

Friday, June 12, 2009

Late night over here folks...with the Lakers OT win and the live blogging. I am XI and I were up until 1:00 a.m. So today's muse has been pushed to early afternoon.

I'm sure you all have heard the questionable jokes David Letterman made about Sarah Palin's daughter during their visit to Yankee Stadium this week.
And while the jokes were indeed in poor taste on Letterman's behalf...leave it to the Republicans to turn this into a political spin for their benefit. Palin's response here

So of course in true Giggle-time Almo fashion RNC Chairman Michael Steele has decided to use this as opportunity to showcase his ineptness by weighing and..."what did you say Michael...we should stage a boycott of the Letterman show...you think" Great idea!

And as if we could not have called this one ourselves...conservatives are of course doing their best to tie this ENTIRE "attack on main stream America" to the Obama Administration. Who writes, produces & shoots the Letterman show in case you were wondering. SMDH Seriously folks this blame Obama for everything bit is getting real old really fast.

Moving on...

If this isn't the closest thing to Final Destination I don't know what is. Truly shocking and really eery.

Not to be outdone by the other old man who decided to shoot up the Holocaust Museum...the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright is back with some good ole fashion racism. Open mouth insert foot sir. Clearly he has not learned anything from last years meltdown. Pray for the "Reverend"!

And in a very interesting spin...the recent rise in right-wing extremism is pushing the Department of Homeland Security to release a very important report linking the daily rantings of people like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh & Glen Beck to the sudden rise in hate crimes in America. It's about time someone paid attention to this very terrible epidemic in America!

That's all for now...
